ISLAND IRON COMOX 2025

Dates: June 14, 2025 (OC6 Races) and June 15, 2025 (small boats)

Location: Comox Marina 1805 Beaufort Avenue, Comox

  • All races begin and end at the Comox Harbour. 

    The OC6 Novice and Junior Course will be approximately 6 kms. Canoes will head out past Goose Spit to an ama side turn at the “Green Can” and return to finish at the Harbour.

    The OC6 long course will be approximately 17 kms. The canoes will travel from the Fishing Pier start to the “Green Can” marker then head towards Union Bay, where they will make an ama side turn before returning to the Harbour.

    The small boats course will be approximately 12 kms, and will be set on race day subject to wind and tides.

    All race courses may be modified due to weather, tide or other unforeseeable conditions.

  • SITE

    The Comox Marina site has limited vehicle parking available, however a special area will be set aside for boats and trailers. Teams must provide their own boat holders and other equipment.

    FOOD

    Registration fees do not include any meals.

    There will be food trucks onsite and there are several cafes and restaurants close to the venue.  Please note that coffee may not be available onsite prior to am race starts.

  • Registration opens on May 3 and ends June 12.

    Early price May 3- June 7: 

    • Teams: $210 ($35 per paddler)

    • Small boats: $25

    Regular price June 8 - June 12: 

    • Teams: $240 ($40 per paddler)

    • Small boats: $30

    All youth and junior paddlers are FREE

    NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER JUNE 12
    (onsite registration will not be possible, all registrations must be completed online, this includes small boat races on Sunday)

  • A coaching clinic is being offered by CORA, focused on club and crew coaches only.  The clinic will be facilitated by Leanne Stanley and James Hill. The forum will have an open format, providing an opportunity for club and crew coaches to ask questions, discuss and share information about paddling technique and coaching strategies.

    Time: Saturday 5:15-7:00 pm

STANLEY EDGE WORKSHOPS 2025

Dates: April 24-June 8 (8 sessions, package or singles)

Registration is still open for remaining sessions

  • Improve your outrigger paddling with professional instruction from Leanne Stanley, certified coach and renowned professional paddler.

    Sessions will be held at the Comox Airpark (Comox Valley Canoe Racing Club Compound)

    What to expect:

    • Technique and skill focused sessions (1.25-2 hrs)

    • Back to fundamentals such as: finding pressure, water time, posture, breathing, blend with a crew, efficiency etc.

    • Tips and tricks

    • Training advice

    • Big and small boats mix subject to numbers
