Vortex Fundraising Request
Due to COVID, our club has lost two important fundraising opportunities this year, including our approved bid to hold the Canadian Outrigger Championships in August, and our annual silent auction and Christmas party in December. For this reason, our new Treasurer, Shaun Frazer, has notified us of a significant projected shortfall ($5000) in raising enough funds to pay the balance on our most recent boat acquisition, the 150 pound, six seat Vortex. Payments are due March 1, 2021.
Although there have been donations ($2000) towards the balance owing on the Vortex, the new executive is faced with a steep slope fundraising in the months to come. Our principal sources of revenue include membership dues, grants, and races, and we will be exploring all options in the next 12 weeks.
For the time being, may we ask anyone who might otherwise have contributed at a silent auction, to consider a Christmas donation to our club instead? Shaun’s calculations suggest that our deficit is approximately $100 per member; half, full or extra donations are welcome, and our treasurer is happy to receive donations of any size.
